3) Ehrenreichs and Eighners stories
are both very similar, because they are both connected with people who have
problems in their live. Ehrenreich is sill a waitress and can buy some food and
Eighner has to find food in dumster which is much harder. I think Eighner has
much more experience how to survive with no home. Ehrenreich has more to do
with other people and there backgrounds. I think everybody can go to school and
try to get good grades. Everybody can get at least a job in a restaurant like
Ehrenreich is doing it.
4) EH= Ehrenreich
EI= Eighner
EI: Hello Miss Ehrenreich, I think
it was great to work for a while in a low wage job, to get more experience as a
well educated woman. Most people with high wage jobs can’t even imagen how it
is to live like that and how to deal with this little amount of money.
EH: Thank you so much. It is my
honor to meet you personally. It was really interesting to jump into another
life for a while. Of course your way of life is completly different. I could go
home whenever i couldn’t be there anymore, but I praise you for being like that
for such a long time.
EI: Thank you! When you are doing
something like that you should come with me me and I show you how it was form
me to dumster dive everyday.
EH: I will! Thank you so much for
taking time to talk about your experiences with me.
1)
Scrounging: To obtain
(something) by begging or borrowing with no intention of reparation
Dumster Diving: looking in trash for food that you can
still eat
Foraging: The act of looking or searching for food or
provisions.
Bohemian: Person who can to what every he/she wants, living free with no
rules
Scavenging: Person who prefers to use rather than
Dumster Diving
2. Eighner has some much experiences dumpster diving that a
person with higher wage never could imagen. I personally could never imagine
that you have to pay attention to so many things. When he starts talking about
that he could never imagine that he is going to eat garbage and he is doing
that in the night so nobody could see him. It is embarissing for him to eat
other peoples trash. He tells us so many about what things people are throwing
away, even if you still can use them. He tells us that we should look twice
what we are throwing away and why?
4) I feel like I should start
taking care about what I am actually throwing away and the peopele around me. I
think the society from today is very wasteful. For example my grandmother had
times were food weren’t enough there all the time. She tells me how it was to
not live in plenty of food.
I think with grab fort he gaudy
bauble he means that people like him see food in a different way, it is kind of
holy for them and something special. Today I see sign’s: It is ok to waste the
food and I feel bad about it.

Serving in Florida Barbara Ehrenreich

To Mr. Cronin
Serving in Florida
1. Why is Ehrenreich working as a
waitress?
She wants to tell her experiences
as a waitress to other people and tell them about how it is to live with a
low-paying job.
2. By looking closely at on of
the stories she tells about her experiences and the experiences of the men and
women she works with, describe How
Ehrenreich uses specific stories about individuals to serve as examples of the difficulties of
living on very little money. One example is not enough.
She
describes her experiences that she had more about the people that she met there
and their experiences and not really about what she experiences there.
Her first
experience is when she has a job in an restaurant and meets Gail another
waitress who trains Barbara. She finds out the real world under what conditions
people have to live, for example like Gail who has to live in her truck. Her
boyfriend was killed in prison and another waitress called Joan has to raise
three children in a mobile home by herself.
On problem
of the low-wage world is that Gail can’t afford the two month’s down payment in
rent it would take to get an apartment.
At another
restaurant the customer volume is much higher and she mets George there. She
tries to teach him some english, that shows how bad the education of the people
is. While she is working there she takes another job in a hotel next door. The
other worker at the restaurant are impressived, because they coudn’t manage
another job at the same time.
It all ends
when the manager throws a fit and Barbara walks off the job.

Mr.
Cronin
I’am
confused about ... Why is it so difficult for Willy to find a job close to his
house? Is it hard to become a job at his age in this time period?
It is easy to get a job at this time period, because the economic situation in the United States is very high. I think I doesn't gets the job that he wants close to his house, because he is to old or not a good worker.
I have a question about... Why is Willy driving
sixty miles and can’t remember the last five minutes? What happened in the last
five minutes? Why can he remember everything else?
I think we will find this out later in the play, but I personally think that he was so depressed in this moment that he was in his one world.
I think we will find this out later in the play, but I personally think that he was so depressed in this moment that he was in his one world.
I think that means... Linda takes care of Willy and
helps him a lot with his problems. I think that she shows him her love and that
she his a really honest wife.
It is true that she takes care of him, but she is easy to convince, because her husband thinks that he always says the truth. For example when he is talking with her about their son, that he is a good or lazy worker.

Do you think... That Willy has mental problems and
is depressing? Why does his wife says that he has to rest his mind?
He is definitely mentally ill. He has to rest his mind to get clear in his head to think.

What does it mean when the author says...“As more
light appears, we see a solid vault of apartment houses around the small,
fragile-seeming home“
He and his family live in the middle of a city in a house and around the houses are many apartments, so it is hard to have some real sunlight in the middle. But when some light appears you can see the apartments very good around the house in the middle.

English 3 Homework
1.
It is better to live a poor life but live your dreams.
I
agree with this statement, because living a life that you enjoy with no money is
better than living a life with money that you do not enjoy. A poor person is
able to live out his or her dreams, because a poor person has dreams. A rich
persin might don’t even have any dreams, because he or she has already
everything. And I think that is a sad live, because it is more important to be
happy than rich.
I
disagree with that statement, because it is never ok lie. People who like to
keep a good reputation are trying to hide something and don’t have a good
reputation. They want to cover the truth and they will never have a good
reputation.
I agree with this
statement, because disillusionment often leads to distrust because if someone
did something wrong and is disappointed from that, distrust ist the reason why
disillusionment even happens.
I
agree with this statement, because there are not many other ways to relive the
past. Flashbacks are only happening certain times in your live, it is
impossible to relive yor past physically. For Flashbacks you don’t have to be
on the place where something happened.
5. Forgiveness leads to peacefulness.
I
agree with this statement, because it is true. For example when I and my best
friend are fighting about something there is no peace between us. But when
somebody of them apologize after some time forgiveness will come and when can
start to built up the friendship again. And this is finally leading to
peacefulness. The Forgiveness made it possible to re-build our friendship and
start new to live in the peace that was once present.
I
disagree with this statement, because I think that it is better to face the
reality and hide this and ignore something unpleasant. Facing to the reality is
better, because you feel better by this and don’t have to ignore it. You can
change this they way that you want, because it is your future and you make your
own changes.
I
disagree with this statement, because you don’t need money to be happy.
Happiness comes from your family, friends and from your own. You can be rich
and still sad, because you are unhappy with yourself.
Often
poor people are happier than rich people!
8. The life of a salesman leads one to
be financially stable
I
disagree with this statement, because not all salesmen in this world are
successful and have enough money to be financially stable. I all denpends on
who much the salesmen is working, how and what he sales. I also depends one the
location, where he sales his things. But often this people are financially
stable, but it is false to say it about all of them.
9.
Determination always leads an
individual to live his/her
I
agree with this statement, becuause determination is a key to lead an individual live with his or
her own dreams. They can change their lives, when they are not happy with it.
But if they don’t make there own decisions, they can’t change anything and can’t
lead individual.
